FlyPamo works without an account. Your notes stay on your Mac unless you sign in to sync them, and then they are kept in your account so your other devices can get them.
Without an account
Notes, their positions on your screens, and your settings are stored on your Mac, inside FlyPamo's own app folder. Nothing about them is sent anywhere.
- Reminders are shown with your Mac's own notifications; they are scheduled on your Mac.
- The app contains no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting.
- You can export all notes as a plain text file at any time (Settings › Data › Export).
When you sign in to sync
Signing in is optional. You sign in with your email address and a 6-digit code we email to you; there is no password.
What is stored in your account
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | To send sign-in codes and tell your account apart |
| Your notes: their text, colour, opacity, text size, the time set on them, whether they are done or deleted, when they were made, and when each of these last changed | To keep the same notes on each of your devices and to merge changes made on two devices |
| When the account was made, the last sign-in, and the last day it was used | To run the service and count active accounts |
| For each signed-in device: which kind of app it is (for example macOS), when it signed in and when it was last used | To keep you signed in, and to count users per platform |
Where your notes are on screen, your settings, and your shortcuts are not sent: they stay on each Mac.
Notes are not end-to-end encrypted. They travel over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and are stored on our servers in a form we could read. We do not read them, sell them or use them for anything but syncing.
Sign-in codes and sessions
- A sign-in code is stored only as a hash, expires after 10 minutes, and stops working after five wrong tries.
- Your device keeps a sign-in token in the macOS Keychain. Our servers keep only a hash of it. A session ends 180 days after it was last used, or when you sign out.
- To stop abuse, we count requests per email address and per network address over short periods. These counts are stored under salted hashes: we do not store your IP address or your browser's or device's user agent.
- Before a code is sent, a bot check runs in the sign-in window. Your network address goes to the check's provider for that check, and the provider may keep its own cookies in that window.
Companies that handle data for us
Our servers and the bot check are run by our hosting provider; sign-in codes are sent by an email delivery service. They process data only to provide these services to us. [Decide whether to name them here, e.g. for the EU: hosting provider, email service.]
Deleting things
- A note. Deleting a note (in FlyPamo › Notes or Archive) takes it off every list at once. A note that was never synced is removed from your Mac right away. A note that was synced leaves a deletion record, with its text, on your Mac and in your account for 90 days, so that each of your devices learns of the deletion; then it is removed for good.
- Signing out. Your notes stay on the Mac; nothing more is sent from it.
- Your account. FlyPamo › Account › Delete Account removes all notes in your account and every signed-in session at once. Your email address is removed from the account record; what remains is an anonymous entry with its dates. Notes on your Mac are not touched.
This website
Our pages on flypamo.com set no cookies and run no analytics. Its pages load fonts from Google Fonts and icons from unpkg.com, so those services see your network address when you visit. If you switch the site between light and dark, that choice is kept in your browser's local storage.
Children
FlyPamo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly hold accounts of children under 13.
Changes
If what we store changes, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
